USH Magazine: The Cultural and Activist Voice of the Far South
Identity and Scope:
- First International Cultural Collective in the region (print magazine and digital portal formats).
- Argentina's only bilingual international media outlet.
- Origin and Coverage: Born in Ushuaia, covering from the southern tip, Antarctica, passing through the Falkland Islands and South Georgia, until the rest of the Patagonia.
- My Own Perspective: He speaks of culture from south to north, with his "own imprint and perspective.".
Mission and Social Commitment/Activist:
- Media Activist: Use communication as a half for activism, seeking collective achievements that improve communities at the local and global level (addressing common ecological, social and cultural problems).
- Support for NGO: Donate time and space to give a voice to non-governmental organizations.
- Responsibility and Risk: Takes on the commitment to communicate for the communities and not for private interests that may be misaligned with the needs of the people.
- Philosophy: “We may have different opinions, but if we don't act on them, it's the same as not having an opinion at all.”
Content:
- Cultural: literature, music, visual arts, cultural tourism, gastronomy, personalities, economy, heritage architecture, etc.
- Ecological/Social: Orders, actions, case tracking (specific and general), dissemination of NGOs and fellow media outlets.
Community and Collaboration:
- Equipment: more than 40 collaborators (individuals and institutions).
- Audience: readers in more than 45 countries.
- Free Access: Publication on-line free of charge, based on the conviction that Culture shouldn't be just for those who can afford it..
- Goals: to generate identity, build a solid community with convictions and create links with other global communities.
Invitation:
- They invite people to join, especially those who “care about someone other than yourself,” emphasizing that “It’s not about us, it’s about you.”
